If you’re waiting for the new iPad Pro model, your wait may almost be over as it seems likely the iPad Pro 2022 line will be announced today (October 18).
This according to Mark Gurman (opens in a new tab)which has an excellent track record of information about Apple and while it is the only source pointing specifically to today, others suggest the launch should also be imminent.
Many leaks have claimed that the iPad Pro 2022 will land in October, for example, and Gurman has also noted (opens in a new tab) that most iPad Pro configurations are currently unavailable at many US Apple stores; for some online models, delivery estimates are down to November.
In case it was not obvious with the phrase “days away” from Saturday, the premiere should take place tomorrow. https://t.co/moc5PU8hLkOctober 17, 2022
This is notable as Apple will likely have no inventory issues with these models, so the fact that the company has allowed them to run out of stock suggests that they will be replaced soon.
Moreover, Apple has a tendency to announce new products on Tuesdays, such as the iPad Pro 2021 line being announced on Tuesday. Accordingly, although we can not be sure that today is the day we see the iPad Pro 2022 line looks very likely, and if not today, we’ll likely see these slates soon anyway.
Analysis: Also the new entry-level iPad and iPadOS 16.1
iPad Pro 11 (2022) and iPad Pro 12.9 (2022) may not be the only things Apple is going to announce as leaks suggest we will see a new standard iPad (2022) as well, so there may be new options for both ends of Apple’s tablet line .
In addition, we’re still waiting for the finished release of iPadOS 16 – or rather iPadOS 16.1, as Apple jumps straight to it to get the final release. Leaks suggest it will land in October, and it would make sense to announce it along with new hardware.
Of course, the actual shipping date of these new top iPad competitors and the availability of iPadOS 16.1 may be a bit later, but at least we may have those dates soon. But don’t expect a big scandal – leaks suggest that today’s announcement – if it happens in the next few hours – will be made in a press release.
