If you’ve been hoping for a radically new design from next year’s Samsung Galaxy S23 series, fresh leaks confirm rumors that a visual update is coming.
The most obvious thing that has consistently worked across generations seems to be their overall form, with three device sizes (previous leaks suggest the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra will have dimensions similar to their predecessors), as well as the number of camera lenses. on any device.

A longtime tipster, Ice Universe (opens in a new tab) posted two separate leaks on Twitter on October 16 and 17 that featured four images of alleged Galaxy S23 cases, and while they appear to be from different accessory makers, they all appear to be running from a similar template; with straighter sides and cleaner camera modules than the current Galaxy S22 lineup.
Case photos show that the expected S23 and S23 Plus have a vertically aligned triple rear camera setup, with an offset LED flash at the top, while the S23 Ultra will adopt an almost identical layout to that of the four cameras on the current Ultra.
It’s already well documented that the Galaxy S22 Ultra from 2022 is the freak of this year’s Galaxy S trio, from a design perspective; carrying the top-down pill-shaped silhouette of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and pairing it with the clear water-drop rear camera that stands out from the Contour Cut cameras first seen in the Galaxy S21 series and held in the S22 and S22 Plus.
It looks like this camera design will arrive on all three models next year, along with the straight sides on the S23 and S23 Plus, much closer to Apple’s aesthetic style introduced with the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 lineup in recent years.
Analysis: the case is not fully “closed”
The relative simplicity of phone case design and manufacture (at least compared to the phones they protect) means accessory manufacturers can change and improve case designs down to the last second.
In the past, we here at TechRadar have received what appears to be a ready-made case of unreleased phones a few days before the device was released and despite the apparent complete nature of the product, the case makers have told us that they are prepared and ready for additional modifications if needed. even after switching on the phone for which the case is intended.
Even with multiple sources and leaks indicating a design improvement for the S23 series as a whole, such flexibility means that design speculation based on such leaks from the casing does not hold back as much water as you might expect.
That said, we hope the company will commit to a simpler design for next year’s Galaxy S phones, as while this may jeopardize the hand comfort that existing entries offer, the greater internal volume will allow Samsung to sneak larger batteries into them. new phones; helping them find a purchase in our rundown of the best phones.
