The first trailer for The Last Of Us, the long-awaited and anticipated adaptation of Naughty Dog’s hugely successful video game, has just arrived. Click below to watch it:
The series, which was first announced in March 2020, stars Pedro Pascal from The Mandalorian and British rising star Bella Ramsey. This happens 20 years after modern civilization was destroyed by a deadly virus.
We follow Joel Pascal, a veteran survivor who was hired to smuggle Ellie Ramsey from the oppressive quarantine zone into the Fireflies organization, which is looking for a cure for the virus. Together, the couple must travel around America, depending on each other, to survive.
The show is expected to follow the story of the first game, with elements of the 2020 sequel, though Neil Druckmann, Naughty Dog co-president and co-author of the show, previously suggested some episodes “diverge significantly.” “From the source material.
With a budget of over $ 155 million, the series is one of the pillars of HBO in 2023 and was overseen by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin, alongside Druckmann.
Merle Dandridge, Gabriel Luna, Nico Parker, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman and Storm Reid star alongside Pascal and Ramsey.
The trailer that was released to celebrate The Last Of Us Day, the day celebrating the game and its legacy, doesn’t reveal much in terms of release date, other than that we can expect it on HBO Max and NOW Television in 2023.
While it’s hard to plan ahead, especially when HBO’s parent company Warner Bros. Discovery canceled so many projects in 2022, more seasons of the show are expected, and The Last of Us will not be released as a standalone small series.
