New research has revealed some of the key reasons some companies still believe a hybrid is working hard.
After two years of implementing WFH on a large scale, many employers still struggle to support remote workers, according to a Mitel study of 1,361 medium and large enterprises (each with 250-10,000 employees).
It is estimated that 44% of the UK workforce will continue to work from home 3-4 days a week and 20% intend to work exclusively from their own home. These trends are reflected in several other studies, all of which suggest that hybrid work will play an important role in the future.

Three quarters (75%) of employees surveyed said they think better online communication and collaboration tools increase their productivity, but only a third (33%) of companies say they have “mature remote working practices with advanced communication and collaboration tools” .
A recent Microsoft report also believes that many companies also lack communication solutions. According to Mitel and Techaisle, this solution enables companies to invest in better collaboration tools. In an era of ever-increasing budgets, 69% of companies surveyed said a multitasking communication and collaboration technology – known as Unified Communications (UC) platforms – would be more appropriate.
The best productivity tools should offer a variety of payment methods, including subscription and one-time purchase options, which should cater to nearly the same number of companies that prefer capital or operational spending.
Productivity isn’t the only thing better communication tools need to achieve. The Great Retirement, which made employees more likely to change jobs due to dissatisfaction, placed even greater emphasis on the mental health and well-being of employees.
